Hi friends,
My name is Huseyin and I am a comic fan just like you. There is a comic website in Turkey which is called www.cizgiroman.com and it has a Forum part which Turkish comic fans came together. We called ourselves as "The children of comics". Now you read te article of 7 Turkish comic fans about how they recognized with comics. I want to thank to my friend, Nilson, and all my Turkish friends who sent article to me. Greetings from Turkey to Brazilian comic fans:-)

ORHAN BERENT: (He is from Izmir. Bonelli comics are his favourite and he hates from American super heroes:-) " I was started to read comics when I was 6 years old. Zembla was the first comic which I read. My family weren't oppose to comics, in contrast, my father was also read them. We were bought 4 comics per a week. Mark for my sister and others were Zagor, Tex and Gordon. In 1974, I explored that an 'old comic seller' in our street and it changes my life. The 4 comics werent enough per week, there were more comics for reading. We exchanged sometimes with our friends or sold them near the cinema saloons. In 1970s, the price of comics were cheap, so we can read more comics. Our all times passed with comics in the summers: Zagor, Tex, Gordon, Zembla, Mister No, Capitan Miki, Blek and others... I can say that I read nearly all the comics which were published between 1970s and 80s. At the beginning of 1990s, comic publication was decreased in Turkey also selling rates. Today, I am nearly 40 years old but I love comics very much now than before. I am not selling my old comics in order to buying new ones, anymore. I am keeping them in my library. Somebody called this as a 'collector', but according to me, it is the 'keeping of dreams'. If Fumetto won't be publish in the future in Turkey, I dont know what we will do, I dont want to think, in reality....

YUNUS CENGEL: (He is from Kusadasi-Aydin. He is the webmaster of www.resimliroman.cjb.net. He has a little sweet son who is name is Halil Ibrahim who will be a potential comic reader in the future:-) " I was recognized with comics when I was in primary school. My cousin had Capitan Miki, Blek and Zagor. I was enjoying to looking their pictures although I didnt know how to read and write. When I was finished my school, I bought my first comics which was SpiderMan and reading comics is becaming a hobby for me. In 1999, I was started to make a comic website over internet. The first name of the website was "the place of Yunus-Spiderman page" but later it changed to"resimliroman". I had got many friends all over Turkey because of Resimliroman. We established "the band of Izmir" and I came together with other comic fans in Izmir. Our common point is reading comics. I understand better day by day that how I was bulit good friendships with other comic fans. How the comcis effect my life? I think that, comics make me less aggressive and far away from violence...I am destroying the violence emotion in my inside with comics. I learn from peter Parker that the value of love, finding true love and fighting for love. I learn faith from Tex. I advise to everybody that you can be relax when you read MMystere. Being a children of comics in Turkey is very difficult but enjoyable also.

CENGIZ ERTEM: (He is from Istanbul and he is one of the comic fan who has deeper informations about comics) "I was read comics when I learned how to read and write. My family didnt interested with comics but I effected from my school and street friends. I saved my pocket money and I bought comics. When my "comic stoke" was starting to increase at home, my family burned them in the stove. My brother bought comics for me when i was in abroad and army. So, I can say that I have got a rich comic collection today at my house. Especially, I have got nearly all issues of Conan. What comics means for me? I had far away from the bored, dark realities of real world. Most of the time, I prefer comics rather tha a book, a film or a delicious meal:-)

LAMI TIRYAKI: (He is from Izmit. He is a chemist. He is writing editorial articles for LAL publishing house in Turkey) " A warm day of 1978, I had to be aware of a comic book in my school friend's bag and I asked to him: Could you please give it to me for reading?' He gave, of course. The comic is about the first met of Zagor and Kandrax. New worlds were open in my mind. I was thinking Zagor, Bat Batterton and kandrax when I was looking to street of my city from the window. I was burning with a fire after this day which is never ends. The 'fire' of comics covered all my body which never leaves me. Firstly, I was read them, later I was exchanged or sold them. But in that time, the parents were belived that comics are harmful for the children. So, we didnt bring our comics to home. When we bring them into house, my parents catched me most of the time. And they cut them and burned into the stove. By this way, they think that they protect their children. So, our comics were heat up us in the cold night of South Anatolia. However, in reality, the burning things werent comics, but it is tears of our childhood. Today, when I looked to the past, I am thinking that we gave our most difficult struggle of our life. Today, we are nearly 40 years old but still we are fighting for our comics. When I see today's new generation who are only interested with computer, football and magazine programs them I am saying that : I am happy for born in 1970s. What happy to us, the comis readers...

ILYAS ERKUL: (He is from Istanbul. He is the first comic fan who I recognized for the first time. He is selling old comics in Istanbul) "I was started to read comics from my childhood. There were Phantom, Mandrake, Jeriko and Conan. Conan and Spiderman were the heroes of my childhood. In 1988, I recognized with Mustafa in Beyazit (a place in Istanbul) who sells old comics. Then I decided to sell old comics and earn mony from it. The year is 2002, and I am still making this sweet job and recognizing with many people. I am sharing common interest with them. My top ten is: 1) Dampyr 2)Tex and Ken parker 3) Spiderman 4) Zagor 5)Mister No 6) X men 7)Thorgal 8) Asterix 9) Conan and 10) Martin Mystere

ERSIN YIGIT: (He is from Isparta. He is one of the younger comic fan in Turkey but he knows many things about comics. When you enter the forum part of cizgiroman.com, you can see his name under all the messages:-) " I was started to read comics in 1993. Batman was the first comic which I bought with my own pocket money in 1993. I recognized with Fumetto in 1996. Dylan Dog, Martin Mystere, Nathan Never, Zagor were the first italian comics which I read. The Tex, Mister No and MARK. Old and new comics were publishing again and i bought all of them. Then I bought Ken Parker, Julia, Nick raider, Blek, Miki and Kinowa. Dampyr is the last fumetto which I am reading. I hope we will catch a chance to read more comics in the future. As a Turksih comic fan, we are unlucky because of comics change hands from one publishing house to other ones easily, their period and format are also change. I hope I wont lose my habit of reading comics.

HAKAN ALPIN: (He is from Istanbul. He is the editor and publisher of the first and only Turkish comic fanzine called Darkwood SAKINLERI.) "Hakan Alpin was born in Istanbul in 6th September 1966. He catched a chance to be a professional comic drawer and in 1985, he worked in ALFA publishing house in order to drawn YUZBASI VOLKAN. He prepared comics for some comic magazines, national and international newspapers until he went to the army. In 12 September 1993, he drawn Yuzbasi CELAL (about Bosnian war) for VAKIT (later changes to Akit) newspaper. He prepared their scenario also.
